Damn straight he is! And he has a total of 8 movies so far (as Horatio Hornblower). And, in one of them, he asks the men to bathe him. Oh yeah! ::nods::

You would probably like that series. It has a lot to do with ships and such, and even though it is not *about* pirates, you get a pretty good idea of what things must have been like for them. At sea and all. You get to see the dirty side of it with the maggots in the food and the legs getitng blown off. Suprisingly, though this review doesnt sound like it, it is not really all that bloody. Only a few moments.

    • A picture is worth a thousand words! But speaking of words, you should hear him speak. I understand that for Hornblower he had to change his regular WELSH accent to a BRITISH accent. I’m not sure I would know the difference, but so what? A voice to match the face and bod.

By the way, many thanks to Mary for showing me how to post pics!

Yes, swoon indeed. He has 8 movies. You should see them. They are very historical. All about the French Revolution and life at sea and the British Navy.

I gotta laugh how I recommended this series to you and Tracy on compeltely different grounds. lol Ah well. Great series!!!!

    • Yes, swoon!!! And you should take Mary’s advice and watch the movies. They can be equally enjoyed as history, literature AND as swooning inspiration.

Being a seamstress, you might especially enjoy the commentary on the last film (Duty) in which the costumer designer offers lengthy comments on outfitting all the actors and extras for the early 1800’s. I understand the Hornblower series was the most expensive mini-series ever, and part of the reason was the large number of detailed and historically accurate costumes that had to be created.
