Very often, when I put things away, like my laptop computer, or headphones, or phone charger, the cords are fine. I may bundle them up a little for storage, but I certainly don’t stop to tie them in knots! Yet somehow, when I take the item out again, there will in fact be knots in the cord. How does this happen?
Well, I have a theory. When not in use, cords get bored. While they’re waiting to be useful again, they amuse themselves by making knots. Nothing else to do while we wait, so let’s have some fun, and get some exercise! Maybe my cords are hoping to one day join the Navy, or perhaps to sign on to a pirate ship! Skill at knot-tying would be most helpful in either case.
So. My cords are ready to be sailors and pirates, having had a great deal of practice in knot tying. But I hope they don’t run away from home too soon, because I still have lots of work for them to do.
