QUESTION

I break my months-long silence on this site to ask this utterly perplexing question:

Why is it that a huge super-store like Wal-Mart, which must rake in billions of dollars each year, only cares to place ONE divider stick at each checkout? Huh? Would it break them to spring for two?

Good question!…..However, I have a more pressing question than the dividers. Why are there not enough cashiers. I would like to go to Wal-Mart more often then I do, but every time I think about the long lines and the over-worked, tired looking cashiers I head to Publix. I have to plan ahead my visits to Wal-mart,I have to go very early in the morning, or I try to get my husband to go for the things I need.
Today, Sunday, I actually got him to go to Wal-mart for me (which proves the man either really loves me or he just wanted to get out of the house) to buy Breyers ice cream. I have to admit they do have the best price in town, it’s $2.97. No one can beat that, not even Publix, BOGO.

Can you stand another comment on Wal-Mart? We have the FORBES magazine that we have received in the mail, I don’t think we asked for it. It must have been a mistake, but anyway, it lists the top 400 riches people in America.
When I saw that the whole Wal-mart family, the Waltons are listed as been worth 34 billion dollars apiece, I asked myself the question? How much money do they really need?
Can they not provide medical insurance for the their employees. I understand that they are cancelling medical ins. for the people that have previously had medical insurance. These are people that have to work to make a living and I’m sure this will be a hardship on them.
Well, I vented and now I do feel a little better. I only wish I could send the Waltons an e-mail and express my views. But somehow, I don’t thnk that would make a difference.

John Trimble believes Obama wants a plantation america so we all depend on the Government. I don’t believe he will win out.

Hi, Barbara! Have you seen the documentary, Wal-Mart, the High Cost of Low Prices? I know you can find it on Netflix, and also at You Tube: http://youtu.be/wf3JskuoiNg.

When I first saw it, I stopped shopping at Wal Mart altogether. Then the tornado hit and the business where Russ worked was destroyed, and while he was out of work, we kind of got back into the Wal-Mart habit, because it’s so economical. Now we just keep going to Wal-Mart because it’s convenient. Maybe it’s time to rethink Wal-Mart.

You’re right: writing an email is not going to change anything, but if enough people stopped shopping there, then things might change. It’s hard to imagine enough people would ever stop shopping there to even make a dent in their business, so I think at this point it’s merely a personal choice: everyone has the opportunity to say “I don’t shop at Wal-Mart because I don’t agree with their practices.”

Russ is working again, making more money than before, and by the grace of God things are good, so we don’t HAVE TO shop at Wal-Mart if we don’t want to. As I say…it might be time to make that personal choice again.
