It was nice to have a day off and really nothing to do but putter around the house and get all kinds of little things done. When my environment is a mess, I feel a mess, and when I straigten up my physical world, I feel more inner peace. So right now I am feeling somewhat peaceful…and all this beautiful weather also feels good! I was talking to Joey just now about how nice the weather is in Gainesville. In the winters it goes down into the 40’s and 30’s quite a bit, and that’s about as cold as I would ever like to have it—with an odd night here and there in the 20’s. The autumn and the winter up there are SO AWESOME. I kind of miss Gainesville, just thinking about it. It is a much different environment than down here. I wonder if I would still find it the same. I still say my ideal job (besides doing the voices for cartoons, if I had the voice for it) would be to be in a secretarial position at UF, or maybe in Tallahassee, at least somewhere in northern Florida, or southern Georgia, and living in a college town. Maybe someday I’ll get to do that. We’ll see.

::shudders:: ugh…the word…’putter’….I think thts going to have to be added to my list along with ‘tickle’, ‘cuddle’ and a few others i cant remember…
Anyways…I have never lived anywhere but here (obviously) but I think if I had to choose, I would choose the tropical life..I love the palm trees and warm climate and sandy beaches. I’m not sure I would want to live in a college town really…I dont know…see, college kids nowadays are so…foul…they are always drinking and partying and having unprotested sex and they are still not mature…I think it would make me sad…I want to live in a vacation town, like right on the beach…because no one brings their problems on vacation…when people are on vacation with their families it is not only an escape from their daily grind, itis an escape to memories, it makes them appreciate and rember their family..everyone is always so nice and generous on vacation.
My ideal would be living RIGHT on the beach in Australia and owning my own little shop with icecream and/or movies. I want to sleep under the stars…

Anyway, I take your point about a college town being full of foul/drinking/partying bozos, but guess what? It was no different in my day. You forget that “in my day” the Animal House mentality was all the rage —“Toga! Toga! Toga!”—and the frats and sororities were very “wretched hives of scum and villany.” (My apologies to Mos Eisley). But you know what? That was their thing, it was not my thing. I lived in my little world in my little house with my little group of friends and I was quite happy.
I think you must remember me telling the story about how one day I was walking home from campus and there were two people walking in front of me who I could hear heatedly debating something about the reign of Ferdinand and Isabelle. And I have probably also told you that my roommate Dave had a friend Neil who was going for like his PhD in Math (shudder) and his favorite thing to do was get high on pot and do MATH PROBLEMS. (double shudder). So the point is that I realized it takes all kinds, and you can be whatever kind you chose to be.
Also: just visiting this planet. But as a visitor, I would rather be hanging out in an atmosphere where everything is relaxed and at least there is the POTENTIAL for intellectual activity. South Florida does not fit that bill at all. At least, not very much. And I do understand your bit about being in a vacation environment. My only problem with the beach is that it tends to be prone to hurricanes. Though in Australia, maybe not. Have you found out about that yet?

Okay, the cynic in me says: but no matter where you go, the majority of people are idiots.
And if you MUST smoke pot, better to do math problems than to dress up in a sheet and shout ‘TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!’ It may be wrong, but not as wrong as a lot of OTHER things.
So, you are basically saying, it is wrong to kill someone, but if you MUST kill someone than better to make it quick and painless than to torture them for hours. (this is assuming it is needless murder)
Or, it is wrong to cheat on your spose, but if you MUST cheat on your spouse, better to do it with a safe, clean woman than a dirt whore.
If something is wrong, then it is wrong. Period.
And as for me…I sya that people are inherintly good, but many are misled and confused.
