Basic Life Philosophy: something very simple that in the long run could be quite effective, especially if a lot of people started doing it. Obviously “if you break it, fix it,” and “If you make a mess, clean it up.” That much goes without saying, But how about if everytime you do a fixing or a cleaning you made a point of finding one little thing that someone else should have taken care of but didn’t, and you picked up the slack for them?
For instance, the other day I was in Wendy’s, and when I bussed my table, I noticed a few items someone else had not had the decency to throw in the trash can. So I picked it up and threw it out with my trash.
Or how about, when you are trying on clothes in a fitting room, invariably there is an item or two someone else has left behind (obviously this is in Goodwill, or someplace else where they don’t give you colored tags to account for how many items you have taken in.) So…take out one extra item that wasn’t yours and put it on the rack. I’m not saying to go behind everybody and do everything for them, just to look at the world and say “How can I take one little extra step to make the world a better place?”
I think that I do this without thinking about it…
