CONGRATS TO ME!

Today I had some good news from out of the blue. I got a raise! Other people at work were getting raises, but since I have been there less than a year, I wasn’t really expecting anything. Then one of the ladies from upstairs came in and told me that my letter (with the info about my raise) had been sent to the other woman on campus who happens to have my exact same name! Geez! I sure am glad I’m getting a new name shortly!

And I’m also glad I got this raise. The money is nice of course, but I think the nicest part is that I wasn’t expecting it. No, wait. The nicest part is that it indicates to me that I must be doing well at work, that they like me and want to keep me. Always nice to get that confirmation, and what says confirmation better than cold, hard cash?

The raise is 5%. In my old job, we got evaluated on a 0% to 5% basis, with 5% being the highest rating. I’m looking all over but I can’t seem to find any info on how the University determines performance evaluation increases. Oh well. In my old life, 5% was top of the line, and I’m going to take it as such, unless I hear otherwise.

Anyway, in light of this development, Russ and I went out to celebrate. Of course, if you are keeping up with me in this journal, you will see that I have been experiencing great success in my weight loss, so even tho I wanted to go out and celebrate, I did not want it to be the kind of thing that would add on two or three pounds tomorrow morning. So I looked around on-line at some of the local restaurants and their menus, and found this wonderful, wonderful delight. Applebee’s is serving Weight Watcher meals, low in calories and fat!

This is what ate tonight, tilapia, rice and fresh broccoli, for slightly more than 300 calories. (Plus a small side of cold slaw, since Russ never eats his cold slaw and I happen to be a cold slaw FANATIC!!!) Anyway, it was very delicious, and very filling, and very well priced. I think Applebee’s is about to become one of my favorite restaurants!

So…congratulate me…on my raise AND on discovering an excellent way to eat out and not pack on the pounds!

But seriously, those weight watcher meals are a God send at restaurants. I LOVE eating out, but thats what kills me.

Was it good? Was it worth the price?

    • Yes, good. Yes, worth the price. It was $8.49, same as any other meal. And the fish was VERY tasty. I highly recommend. If you know of any other restaurants that offer tasty “diet” fare, let me know!

Also, I am searching for a restaurant where you can order a baked sweet potato, a la carte. Apparently there is a steakhouse in town, Logan’s, where you can do that, but any time I’ve even gotten NEAR the place, the smell of BBQ is so overwhelming, who could possibly be satisfied with just a sweet potato while smelling that?
